Wallingford is an ancient Thames crossing, with a medieval bridge, a castle site and streets laid out more than a thousand years ago. It is a delightful town, and a tight one for large vehicles.

The A4130 bypasses the town to the south on a modern bridge, leaving the old bridge for local traffic. The A329 runs north towards Oxford and south towards Reading. Crowmarsh Gifford sits across the river.
The town centre’s narrow streets and limited parking make collection from a home or private space easier than from the market square.
Wallingford’s centre follows a Saxon street plan, with narrow lanes and tight corners. If your car is parked in the old town, tell the driver so they can choose the best approach, perhaps over the bypass bridge rather than through the centre.
